IPL 2024 Auction: Full List of Sold and Unsold Players

The much-anticipated IPL 2024 auction unfolded with a whirlwind of excitement as 10 teams battled it out for a total of 72 players. The auction witnessed a whopping INR 230.45 crore spent, making it a day of dreams come true for some and disappointment for others.

Big Wins for Uncapped Talents:

Uncapped Indian cricketers stole the spotlight as Shubham Dubey and Sameer Rizvi experienced overnight transformations in their fortunes. Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings secured their services for ₹5.8 crore and ₹8.4 crore, respectively. Another set of uncapped Indian talents, M Shahrukh Khan and Kumar Kushagra found themselves on the receiving end of massive paydays.

Starc and Cummins Shatter Records:

Mitchell Starc became the costliest player in IPL history, with Kolkata Knight Riders splurging a staggering ₹24.75 crore to acquire his services. This move surpassed the record set just an hour earlier when Sunrisers Hyderabad secured Pat Cummins for ₹20.5 crore. The two Australian pacers emerged as the top buys of the auction.

Indian Pacers Bag Lucrative Deals:

Indian pacers Umesh Yadav and Shivam Mavi fetched impressive sums, with Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants investing ₹5.8 crore and ₹6.4 crore, respectively. The auction also saw New Zealand all-rounder Daryl Mitchell being picked up by Chennai Super Kings for ₹14 crore.

Fierce Bidding Wars:

The auction room witnessed intense battles for players like Harshal Patel, who became Punjab Kings' prized possession at ₹11.75 crore. West Indies T20 captain Rovman Powell sparked a bidding war between Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders before being sold for a whopping ₹7.40 crore.

Hits and Misses:

While some players celebrated their success, others faced disappointment. Travis Head, the World Cup final hero, secured a deal with Sunrisers Hyderabad for ₹6.8 crore. However, prominent names like Steve Smith, Karun Nair, and Manish Pandey went unsold.

Overseas Players Face Tough Times:

Overseas keepers and spinners, including Josh Inglis, Kusal Mendis, Adil Rashid, and Mujeeb Ur Rahman, failed to find takers, indicating a focus on homegrown talent in this year's auction.

Uncapped Aussie Pacer Grabs Attention:

In an accelerated auction, uncapped Australian left-arm pacer Spencer Johnson made headlines as Gujarat Titans acquired him for a whopping ₹10 crore.
