PVR Cinemas, the largest multiplex chain in India, has introduced new food and beverage (F&B) offers across its cinemas nationwide in response to the recent reduction in GST rates on cinema hall food and beverages. The GST Council, composed of representatives from all states and UTs, decided to lower the service tax on F&B consumed in cinema halls from 18% to 5%.

F&B sales are a significant source of revenue for the cinema exhibition industry, particularly for multiplexes, which earn up to 35% of their revenues from this segment. In light of the reduced tax rates, PVR has launched attractive F&B offers for moviegoers.

For weekend moviegoers, PVR Cinemas is offering “bottomless popcorn and Pepsi,” allowing unlimited tub refills, along with family meal combos that significantly reduce F&B spending by up to 40%.

PVR took to Twitter to announce these offers using the hashtag #PVRHeardYou, which was in response to a viral tweet criticizing the high prices of food and beverages at the multiplex. However, specific terms and conditions for the offers were not provided at the time of writing this article.
