The decision to suspend Maldives flight bookings was driven by the principle that ‘country comes before business,' according to Pitti. This move followed derogatory comments made by some Maldivian leaders against PM Modi and his Lakshadweep visit. The Maldives government rejected these remarks, leading to the suspension of three deputy ministers for their derogatory social media posts against PM Modi.
Despite the controversy, PM Modi's visit to Lakshadweep has generated immense interest, as evident from the surge in on-platform searches. MakeMyTrip's ‘Beaches of India' campaign aims to capitalize on this heightened curiosity, encouraging travelers to explore the stunning beaches the country has to offer.
