LinkedIn Set To Launch Games

LinkedIn Set To Launch Games to Make Job Searching More Fun

LinkedIn is thinking of spicing up job hunting with some gaming fun. Reports suggest they're creating puzzle games for users.

The popular job-searching platform LinkedIn might soon include games to make job hunting more enjoyable. They're working on puzzle games but haven't announced a launch date yet.

It is a go-to platform for millions of job seekers worldwide. It's known for simplifying job searches and connecting recruiters and candidates seamlessly. But let's face it, job hunting can be exhausting—endless scrolling, filling in details, and networking. It aims to inject some fun into this process.

Recent reports reveal LinkedIn's plan to blend gaming with job searching. Yes, you heard it right. Soon, you might be able to play games while looking for a job on LinkedIn.

TechCrunch reports that it is venturing into gaming with puzzle games like Queens, Inference, and Crossclimb, similar to the hit game Wordle acquired by The New York Times in 2022.

Evidence suggests LinkedIn's gaming pursuits, such as features where player scores are tied to their workplaces. A LinkedIn spokesperson confirmed the gaming initiative but didn't provide a launch date. These puzzle games aim to make the platform more enjoyable, foster relationships, and spark conversations.

A researcher even tweeted about LinkedIn's gaming venture, saying, “It is working on in-App games! There are going to be a few different games, and companies will be ranked based on their employees' scores! Pretty cool and fun, in my opinion.”

LinkedIn, part of Microsoft, isn't the only platform adding gaming. Meta's Facebook already offers in-app games to entertain users.

Considering Microsoft's strong gaming background with Xbox, one wonders if they'll be involved in LinkedIn's gaming ventures. The company hasn't commented on this yet, but it's intriguing to see what unfolds.

Last year, in October, It announced layoffs of over 600 employees. The company stated in a blog post that talent changes were necessary for business management. They let go of 668 employees across engineering, product, talent, and finance teams.

“Talent changes are a difficult, but necessary and regular part of managing our business. The changes we shared with our team today will result in a reduction of approximately 668 roles across our engineering, product, talent, and finance teams,” the blog post read.
