Japan’s Former PM Shinzo Abe Shot Dead

Shinzo Abe, the longest-serving Prime Minister of Japan, is no more; he was a blessing to Japan in multiple ways. The PM was shot dead during his election campaign in the Japanese city of Nara.

As a mark of friendship and respect to the former PM, India observed 9th July as a national mourning day. The country decided to dedicate its tributes on Saturday. The PM was shot dead on Friday.

He changed the foreign policies of Japan, which in the aftermath of the second world war had remained very pacifist in its approach.

The former PM brought Japan back to center stage on the foreign policy front. Both Japan and Indian nations are mourning the loss of such a hard-working PM.

●    What did the Doctors say?

In an interview, the doctors stated- ‘He was conscious when brought to this hospital, but then he lost it. He was bleeding in the right chest of his body.’

Shinzo took two gunshot wounds. The gunman was restrained on the spot by the police and taken into custody.

It is still a big question- Why was the man Shinzo Abe, who had stepped down from the chair of the Prime Minister two years ago, the target of this deadly attack?

●    Indian Government on the Death of Shinzo Abe

Former member of Rajya Sabha, Manmohan Singh, also expressed his condolences on the demise of PM Shinzo Abe. He stated, “He was a good friend of mine, and our relations elevated India-Japan to a new level.”

In his letter, Manmohan Singh also presented his warm regards to Shinzo Abe’s family and the citizens of Japan.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a press conference on Friday, paid a heartwarming tribute to his late friend and fellow politician Shinzo Abe. Prime Minister said that its a loss for the nation.

●    India-Japan Relations

The friendship between India and Japan has an unbreakable bond, and this bond became strong under former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

Shinzo Abe was a dependable friend of India. In 2007, Shinzo Abe became the first-ever Japanese Prime Minister to address the joint session of the Indian Parliament.

During his second visit in 2015, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Shinzo Abe flew together to Varanasi to witness the Ganga Aarti.

Meanwhile, in 2017, the former prime minister of Japan arrived in the city of Ahmedabad, where he laid the foundation stone for the first-ever bullet train in India.

In 2018, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Japan to attend the 13th India-Japan annual Summit. During these visits, the India-Japan relationship climbed to a new strategic and global partnership.

●    Questions We Need Answers For

But why was this politician, the former prime minister of Japan, someone who had stepped down from the Prime Minister post, who had a slightly less high-profile life since having stepped down from the office? Why was he attacked and killed Friday morning?

What prompted a 41-year-old individual to shoot the former prime minister? These are questions for which answers are still awaiting.
