Evacuation measures have been initiated by authorities in the coastal districts of Kutch, Porbandar, Devbhumi Dwarka, Jamnagar, Junagadh, and Morbi.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts a gradual increase in rainfall intensity in Gujarat as the very severe cyclonic storm Biparjoy approaches the coastal region. Today, the coastal districts of Saurashtra and Kutch are expected to experience light to moderate rainfall, with heavy showers in some areas. On June 15, the rainfall intensity will escalate, with heavy to very heavy rainfall in certain places and extremely heavy downpours in isolated areas over Kutch, Devbhumi Dwarka, and Jamnagar. Additionally, Porbandar, Rajkot, Morbi, and Junagarh districts will see heavy to very heavy rainfall in a few places.

According to an IMD bulletin, isolated heavy rainfall is highly likely in the remaining districts of Saurashtra and the north Gujarat region on June 15. On June 16, most places in north Gujarat and adjacent south Rajasthan can expect light to moderate rainfall, with heavy to very heavy rainfall occurring in isolated areas.

Cyclone “Biparjoy” is projected to move northwards until the morning of June 14, followed by a north-northeastward trajectory. It is expected to make landfall as a very severe cyclonic storm near Saurashtra and Kutch, in the vicinity of Gujarat's Mandvi and Pakistan's Karachi, by the evening of June 15. The cyclone will bring maximum sustained wind speeds of 125-135 kmph, with gusts reaching up to 150 kmph to the coastal regions.

The latest location of Cyclone Biparjoy was over the northeast and adjoining east-central Arabian Sea at 5.30 am IST. It was moving at a speed of 10 kmph in a north-northwest direction. The cyclonic system was approximately 300 km southwest of Porbandar, 290 km south-southwest of Devbhumi Dwarka, 340 km south-southwest of Jakhau Port, 350 km south-southwest of Naliya, and 480 km south of Karachi, Pakistan, positioned at a latitude of 20.6°N and a longitude of 67°E.

Regarding wind conditions, squally winds with speeds of 50-60 kmph, gusting to 70 kmph, are persisting along and off the coasts of Saurashtra and Kutch. These winds are expected to continue for the next 24 hours. On the morning of June 14, the wind speed will further increase, transforming into gale winds of 65-75 kmph, gusting to 85 kmph, along and off the coasts of Porbandar and Devbhoomi Dwarka districts. By June 15, gale wind speeds of 125-135 kmph, gusting to 150 kmph, are anticipated along and off the coasts of Kutch, Devbhumi Dwarka, Porbandar, Jamnagar, Rajkot, Junagarh, and Morbi districts.
